Thesis Statement
The massive influx of Irish citizens into America, after the Irish Potato Famine, forced an eventual change in the view of immigration.
Relativity
Our National History Day topic relates to this year's theme "Turning Points in History: People, Ideas, and Events" because the Irish Potato Famine is an infamous natural and social disaster in history, which forced Irish citizens to find new homes. After immigrating to America, they faced challenges of culture shock and segregation, which eventually throughout time died down, and lead to better toleration of immigration. Ireland, America, and other countries were changed greatly because of this event.
